Day 127: floral confetti

Daily details from the garden to bring you inspiration throughout the year

The May bank holiday arrives, and even the trees join in the celebrations, strewing their petals across the ground to provide a glorious carpet on which to tread. When May is dry this is all rather beautiful – given soggier conditions, not so much. Less jewel-coloured confetti and more, well... sludge. I have a particular favourite place to sit and while away a spring moment – a bench by a low wall beneath a cerise-flowered rhododendron, all thick cinnamon trunks and flamenco petals. It’s a great spot all year round, but especially so now. Everyone should have a favourite place to sit.
