Day 51: tipping the scales

Daily details from the garden to bring you inspiration throughout the year

What a difference a week makes. From snow and sub-zero temperatures to much milder fare, with a little sunshine thrown in for good measure. The bulbs of winterspring are getting into full stride now, the crocuses, not normally shy of a snowfall, clearly felt a need to sit the most recent flurries out. Well wrapped up against the cold, they emerged as soon as the rapid thaw had banished the wintery stuff and, in company with tiny Iris reticulata, it feels as though they’re gently tipping the scales towards brighter, milder days.
