Day 55: aide memoire

Daily details from the garden to bring you inspiration throughout the year

Some gardeners are blessed with brilliant memories. For the rest of us, there’s labelling, as long as we remember to carry this out with assiduity. I can’t for the life of me remember what these particular irises are called – Iris reticulata... something or other. I know they’re not ‘Harmony’, which has a much more pronounced yellow stripe on the falls – instead, they’re the lovely blue and white ones I raved about in my newsletter back in...October, was it? So, at least there’s that. And failing the newsletter archives, there’s bound to be an emailed receipt from the online bulb supplier’s...except my MacBook expired over Christmas and took the back catalogue of my emails with it. ‘Fabiola’, that’s the one. The newsletter came to the rescue. A label would have been so much less bother.
