Day 131: droopy Tuesday

Daily details from the garden to bring you inspiration throughout the year

My tulips are drooping, and I rather love them that way. Of course I’ve not cut them from my own garden – these glorious beauties are from a kind friend, and they always threatened to be on the floppy side in my hands. Great advice from expert flower arrangers peering literally over my shoulder – Sarah (Raven) and Jane (Packer) on the bookshelf behind me as I write, both of whom recommend binding heavy-headed flowers like tulips with newspaper and string before giving them a long drink for several hours. But, as you might expect from the person who created the bungedinavase hashtag on Instagram, I completely ignored the advice and, well... bunged them in a vase.

Tulips grown and sent by the superlatively clever and creative Milli Proust. You can order seasonal, sustainable flowers, grown by Milli in her Sussex garden here.
