Day 171: a digger in the daisies

Daily details from the garden to bring you inspiration throughout the year

Another hospital, another car park. Another dog if I’m honest, this only being Nell’s third day walking about post puppy jabs. We wandered out beyond the concrete and the barriers in search of greenery, past the helicopter pad, following three goldfinches as they bobbed and weaved through verge-side wildflowers. Red campion and thistle, field poppies and yarrow and, at the end of the path, behind wire barriers set into concrete boots, a digger on a mound, surrounded by ox-eye daisies. Earth laughs in flowers.
