Day 88: Angel's tears

Daily details from the garden to bring you inspiration throughout the year

The garden makes me wait for Thalia. I think it wants to be sure that I’m going to get through daffodil season without making any disparaging remarks about the colour yellow, though it needn’t worry. There was a time, perhaps not that long ago, when the sight of a bright yellow daff would set my teeth on edge, but I’ve learned to love them, and my custard-hating days are over (not real custard, you understand. Always loved that – even the skin. Especially the skin.) But here we are, at the end of March, my patience rewarded by the emergence of these ‘angel’s tears’ from the Triandrus group of narcissi. Older and a bit wiser, I can cope with the custard, but for me the cream is still where it’s at.
