Day 134: lilac dance

Daily details from the garden to bring you inspiration throughout the year

The lilac is on the point of bursting into bloom; I can’t help sticking my nose into each candle-shaped inflorescence as I pass several times a day. The mauve is being rather stingy with its scent, while next-door the white-flowered variety is the very pattern of generosity, releasing its perfume to each gust of the breeze that’s making the process of capturing a photograph something of performance. The wind blows, the branches wave, and I squeeze the shutter as I sway along, dancing together in a cloud of sweet air.
