Day 135: stopping for bluebells

Daily details from the garden to bring you inspiration throughout the year

We are invariably in a rush to get somewhere, you and I. For one so completely at home in the cool, green calm of the woods, all too often I find I’m experiencing their wonder throughout the month of May as a flash of blue in the peripheral vision whilst driving past. I’ll get out and look on the way back, or tomorrow, but rarely do. Today I pulled over, stopped, and got out, clambered through a gap in the fence and plunged in, immediately surrounded by bluebells on all sides. When life is full, the temptation to push things to the boundaries is strong, but we should be wary of becoming too busy to stop for bluebells.
